The St. Johns River The Intracoastal and Beyond

Roseate Spoonbill

It is a rare treat to see a Roseate Spoonbill. I've only seen one in the St. Johns, and maybe three in my first year of kayaking along the intracoastal. I've seen them at Thousand Islands, another along the Indian River just by the cut to Goat Creek, and this one on Crane Creek.

They are shy creatures, so I wasn't able to get close enough to get really good photos, but isn't this a beautiful and interesting bird?
