| Hi, I'm Peb.
That's
short for Pebbles - yeah, like on the Flintstones. I've been
sharing stories about the river for a while, I guess I ought
to introduce myself properly.
I'm
a short, plump, totally average, middle aged, divorced-with-one-child
woman. And a MarshBunny, of course!
I served
in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era as an Illustrator/Draftsman,
and I worked at the Kennedy Space Center for 10+ years as an
Illustrator/Graphic Artist. I took a voluntary layoff in 1997
to start my own graphic design service, Graphic
Mac.
Like
many creative, intelligent, and not necessarilly humble people
I am somewhat of a split personality - the techie side of me
loves doing graphics, photography, illustration, web design
and working on my computer (well, that's a lie - I don't at
all enjoy working ON my computer...I just enjoy doing work
WITH my computer!), and the Native American/Earth Mother side
of me likes exploring the river and being one with nature. |
Judy |
Usually when
I go out on the river my best friend Judy is
with me. Judy and I have been friends for at least 12 years now
- ever since we met at the Westside Lounge, both claiming our "Birthday
Drinks". We found that we were born within 1/2 an hour of
each other, and we both had been introduced to the St. Johns
River by local airboating river rats (one of whom we had both
dated at different times). We've been "running partners" ever
since, and a person couldn't ask for a better friend.
Aren't
we a fun looking pair of babes? |

Judy is 1/2 hour older than
I am, but she gets even by telling people that I was her "Old
Maid of Honor" at her wedding 7 years ago. She complains
that my photo on the website is 15 years younger and X pounds
lighter than now, but hey...it's my website, I'll be as young
and as thin as I want to be!
Truthfully, I'm always on
the wrong side of the camera, but Judy has caught a couple
of photos of me, so here I am!
Peb and boat at the bend of the
Sweetwater Canal.
More photos for the website.

One too many Lemon
Drops!
|
Judy thinks I photograph well. I think
Judy has done too many Lemon
Drops, but I can hardly afford to throw stones, can I?
Go ahead and laugh
at my funny looking hat...Judy used to laugh at it until
she had to have part of her nose removed due to skin
cancer. Now she wears a funny looking hat, too. That
is a danger of living in the South and being exposed
to too much sun. (Don't we feel stupid now for all the
hours we used to spend sunbathing on the beach, working
on a deep dark tan!)
Judy and I just enjoy
taking my little boat all over the marsh looking at the
scenery and wildlife and getting photos to put on the
website.
I hope you enjoy our
stories and photos - and if you're ever in the area and
see us, stop and say "Hi!". |
