Swallowtail Kite

Swallowtail Kites (or Swallowtail Hawks, as we usually call them), are fascinating to watch as they effortlessly soar and glide on the air currents. They spend most of the daylight hours on the wing.

These beautiful black and white birds of prey have a wingspan of about 50 inches, long pointed wings and a deeply forked tail. They eat the usual marsh diet of fish, snakes, lizards, rats, bunnies....
