Palm Warbler

Palm Warbler among Cypress Knees
Can you spot the Palm Warbler among the Cypress knees?

At different times during the year flocks of tiny little yellow and brown Palm Warblers migrate through our area. The Palm Warbler eats mostly insects, but also eats seeds, berries and nectar from certain plants. We see whole flocks of them flitting through the trees and bushes, but they are so small and quick that it is hard to get a photo of them.

I had originally listed this bird as a Finch, but a reader pointed out my mistake. (I tend to oversimplify sometimes - if it's on the water it's a duck, if it's a tiny bird it's a finch. You should see how I identify flowers.)

Judy and I pulled up under a Cypress tree for shade one day and a Palm Warbler came very close to us, walking on the water lettuce and perching on Cypress knees. Isn't it a pretty little thing?
