For Christmas Judy treated us both
to a day cruise on the River Queen out of Capt.
Hiram's Marina in Sebastian. We don't often get the chance
to cruise on the Indian River, so one cool, clear, beautiful
December day we eagerly drove down to take our tour.

Judy and I have always wanted
to try the Margaritas at Capt. Hirams but had never
managed to be there at the same time the bar was
open.
Outdoor bar on the beach
with palm trees and sand. (Not bad for late December!)
This time we got
lucky. The "Sandbar" was open and we had
time to drink a Margarita (and get another to go)
before getting on
the tour boat.
The resort from the river as
we departed on our tour.
It was windy enough
to make us glad we had brought jackets, but it couldn't
have been a more beautiful day. We were riding on a large,
covered pontoon boat with about 20 other tourists. Our
driver/tour guide was great at pointing out landmarks and
wildlife and giving us a little history of the area.
Boats moored at the marina with
a spoil island in the background.
We
looked at boats decorated for Christmas and birds of all
kinds going about their business as we left the marina
and entered the Indian River.
